Amendment to Go Live Date for UK Windsor Framework
On 19th September 2024, the UK Government confirmed that the new arrangements under the Windsor Framework for parcels and freight movements that were planned to come into effect from 30th September 2024 were deferred until 1st May 2025. See Sending parcels to and from Northern Ireland for the full statement.
Metapack has modified carrier integrations to respect each carrier's requirements for the Windsor Framework. Not all carriers have required Metapack to make changes. Customers are advised to discuss their requirements with Metapack or with the carriers they use to ship from GB to NI to understand how this may affect any changes the Customer may be planning.
Metapack has extended the DM and MPM API to enable shippers to provide:
-
New optional attributes for shipper and recipient UKIMS numbers.
-
A new optional attribute,
movementIndicator
, enables shippers to indicate B2B/B2C/C2C/C2B. For some carriers, this information is mandatory for all GB-NI shipments. For others, it is mandatory only for B2B. -
A new optional attribute for a declaration of the risk that the goods will be onward shipped into the EU (True/False). We recommend that you provide this attribute for all B2B volume.
-
Further technical detail on these new data attributes can be found by referring to the Metapack API specification for the product you use. These new data attributes are available now to support customer testing and in Metapack production environments.
See the Changes to Metapack API section of this article.
